Puppy Pads – For More Than Just Housebreaking
Puppy pads are a benefit to animals and owners for many reasons. They are affordable, reliable, and can be used for things such as housebreaking and relieving dogs during inclement weather. They are easy to find in any pet store and can also be ordered from many online retailers. Convenient access and various uses make them a great choice for busy pet owners.
Puppy training pads are often used to housebreak new puppies. By introducing the pads to the new dog and gradually moving them closer to the desired location dogs will learn to do their business where their owners require. The familiarity helps dogs understand what their job is during the training process. While attempting housebreaking, the mats eliminate the mess on the floor that traditional newspaper training creates. The pads absorb odor and moisture far better than the newspaper can and are generally backed by heavier material such as plastic. As a result the floor is better protected and long term odor or damage is essentially prevented.
There are other less obvious uses for puppy wee wee pads as well. For example, people living in high-rise apartment buildings may not want to bring their pets down several stories multiple times during the day to do their business outside. Some puppy owners, especially those with small pets, might find it easier to use the mats in a designated area of the home instead. Some people appreciated the convenience of litter training apartment dogs in the past, but the pads are better than a litter mess and also quite affordable. When a pet is prone to “accidents” in the house, a mat on the floor can reduce or stop stains and odor from becoming a permanent issue for the owner. Indoor pads are a great way to make enjoying the companionship of a dog just a little simpler.
Another important use for a puppy pad is to protect an animal from dangerous weather. In many parts of the country the weather can become so extreme, whether hot or cold, that it is not healthy for a pet to be outdoors. For some canines exposure to the elements can cause significant health and comfort risks. During a blizzard, for example, it would be nearly impossible to bring a teacup poodle outside to relieve itself. Likewise, some long-haired breeds would be at risk of overheating in one-hundred plus degree heat waves that can strike. In emergency situations a supply of dog pads would be quite a convenience to dog owners.
Living with a dog is a wonderful and enriching experience. Puppy pads can make that experience even better by reducing the stress of housebreaking and potty time for dogs and their owners everywhere.
